Tweeden, Bautista Host Budweiser Long Ball Challenge Finals; Negro Leagues Exhibit, Clydesdales Heighten Fan Excitement
PITTSBURGH (July 6, 2006) -- Budweiser and Bud Light, the Official Beers of Major League Baseball (MLB) and the 2006 MLB All-Star Game, will complement local festivities during the 77th MLB All Star Week July 7-11 by providing several opportunities for area music and sports fans to enjoy free entertainment in the days leading up to the ballgame.
“Baseball fans nationwide enjoy cold Budweiser and Bud Light in their home ballparks while watching their favorite team, and our sponsorship of the MLB All-Star Game is an extension of our long-standing support for America’s favorite pastime,” said Tony Ponturo, vice president of Global Media and Sports Marketing, Anheuser-Busch. “We are proud to offer several interactive programs for the fans to build excitement around the sport of baseball and add to the All-Star Game experience.”

Bud Light and MLB Authentic Collection present O•A•R
Bud Light and MLB Authentic Collection present a free concert by O•A•R at the Chevrolet Amphitheatre on July 9. Maryland-based O•A•R, also known as “of a revolution,” has attracted a nationwide following due to their unique and energetic sound and hard touring.
Tickets for the concert are free to adults 21 and over in specially marked cases of Bud Light, from members of the Bud Light street team in area bars and restaurants, or through radio partners WXDX, WDSY, KDKA, WDVE, WRKZ and WZPT. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Fans will want to arrive early to meet Ted Ferguson-Bud Light Daredevil, and get their picture taken with the Budweiser Clydesdales.
Budweiser Long Ball Challenge presented by XBOX360 and 2K Sports
FOX Sports’ Leeann Tweeden, with special guest José Bautista of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will host 24 of the nation’s best interactive home run sluggers during the Budweiser Long Ball Challenge presented by XBOX360 and 2K Sports. Twenty-two cities across the nation are hosting regional tournaments to select the finalists who will meet head-to-head starting at 1:30 p.m. Monday for a chance to earn national bragging rights, cash prizes and awards. Bautista will be on hand to meet the fans and finalists, and sign autographs.
Bud Light Lounge
Visitors to the MLB Sponsor Zone can chill or groove in the new Bud Light Lounge. Introduced in 2006, the Bud Light Lounge uses state-of-the-art video and a variety of cutting-edge technologies to create a unique, interactive experience for up to 120 guests 21 years and older. Featuring a multi-level design, the 3,500-square foot Bud Light Lounge is comprised of six distinct entertainment zones for a fun, social and engaging experience. Areas include the Blue Room, a vibrant blue club-like atmosphere; Kick, a glowing, reactive video dance floor; and the Sky Deck, a public lookout area where guests can watch all the baseball action on plasma TVs. Best of all, there is no admission fee. The Bud Light Lounge will be located in the MLB Sponsor Zone and will be open 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Monday, and 2 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Budweiser Negro Leagues Exhibit and Ballpark Beers
Budweiser pays tribute to African-American baseball greats as part of the Budweiser Negro Leagues Exhibit at the MLB All-Star FanFest in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, which opens on Friday and runs through Tuesday. Fans will be treated to a series of visual displays and memorabilia chronicling the valuable contributions of the Negro League baseball players, like Satchel Paige, Ray Dandridge, Cool Papa Bell and Buck Leonard, and their place in American baseball history. In addition to the Negro Leagues Exhibit, Budweiser also presents the Budweiser Ballpark Beers, open daily to fans 21 and over at the MLB All-Star FanFest, offering a friendly viewing environment for all the weekend’s sports action.
Budweiser Clydesdales
The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, a favorite among horse lovers and baseball fans nationwide, will parade daily around PNC Park from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET. The Clydesdales will be housed in the MLB Sponsor Zone, and people of all ages are invited to view and take photographs of these “gentle giants.” The Clydesdales also will appear at Sunday night’s O•A•R concert, Monday’s Long Ball Challenge Finals, and at select bars and restaurants in the greater Pittsburgh area throughout the week.
