Anheuser-Busch and Hispanic Scholarship Fund Team Up With Major League Soccer
for Higher Education
Home Team Saves During Soccer Season Benefit the ‘Budweiser Saves for Education Program’
ST. LOUIS (April 14, 2008) – Anheuser-Busch and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) announced they will
team up to provide scholarships for Latino students nationwide through the Budweiser Saves for Education program. Nine
Major League Soccer teams – Los Angeles Galaxy, Chivas USA, Chicago Fire, San Jose Earthquakes,
FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids, New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, Houston Dynamo – are participating
in this program. For every save made by the home team’s goalies this season, Anheuser-Busch and
its local wholesaler will donate $100 to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, up to $10,000 per team.
“Goalies will be the heroes in every match, because their saves will help raise money for education,” said
Frank D. Alvarez, president and CEO, Hispanic Scholarship Fund. “In the last 25 years, Anheuser-Busch
and its family of wholesalers have partnered with us to raise more than $23 million and award more than 18,000
scholarships, and we’re pleased to continue these efforts with the Budweiser Saves for Education program.”
Anheuser-Busch is the brewer of Budweiser,
the Official Beer Sponsor of Major League Soccer. Budweiser also sponsors the FIFA World Cup, the English
Premier League, Manchester United, the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, the Mexican National
Team, SuperLiga, InterLiga and Chivas de Guadalajara.
